Our Story
Recovery begins with hope.
At Soteria Trauma & Recovery Service CIC, we believe that while domestic abuse and trauma can change the course of a person’s life, they do not have to define their future.
The name Soteria comes from the Greek word associated with safety, preservation and deliverance. It reflects the belief at the heart of our work: that recovery is possible when people are given a safe, compassionate space to understand what they have experienced and begin moving forward.
Soteria was created in response to the need for meaningful support after domestic abuse. Too often, people are expected to simply move on once the relationship has ended, despite continuing to experience self-doubt, anxiety, isolation and the lasting effects of trauma.
Our purpose is to provide accessible therapeutic recovery groups where people can feel understood, reconnect with themselves and recover alongside others with shared experiences.

Who We Are
Soteria Trauma & Recovery Service CIC is a specialist domestic abuse recovery service.
We provide affordable online therapeutic groups for adults affected by domestic abuse. Our groups combine trauma-informed learning, therapeutic discussion and connection with others in a safe and supportive environment.
As a Community Interest Company, Soteria exists for community benefit. Our focus is not private profit, but creating accessible opportunities for understanding, connection and recovery.
Our Approach
We understand that recovery is personal.
There is no correct way to heal and no set timetable for moving forward. People are supported to take part at their own pace, with their choices, boundaries and emotional safety respected throughout.
Our approach recognises that the effects of domestic abuse can continue long after a relationship has ended. Recovery is not about forgetting what happened. It is about understanding its impact, rebuilding confidence and creating a life that is no longer controlled by the past.
