Disabilities, Chronic Conditions & Trauma
Exploring the connection between physical health and emotional healing.
Understanding the Connection
At Soteria Trauma & Recovery CIC, we recognise that trauma and physical health are deeply connected.
For many survivors, experiences of domestic abuse or prolonged trauma can lead to — or worsen — chronic conditions such as pain, fatigue, autoimmune illnesses, and neurological symptoms.
Others may live with disabilities or long-term health issues that make them more vulnerable to controlling or coercive partners.
Our work acknowledges both realities — and supports healing at the intersection of mind and body.
Our Specialist Approach
We provide trauma-informed therapy and group programmes that understand how living with a disability or chronic condition can affect every aspect of recovery.
Our therapists recognise that health challenges can impact memory, energy, confidence, and access to support — and that abuse often targets these vulnerabilities.
Through compassionate, non-judgemental practice, we help clients to:
🌿 Rebuild trust in their own body and experiences
🌿 Explore how trauma may have influenced physical symptoms
🌿 Develop safe coping strategies for pain, fatigue, and anxiety
🌿 Challenge internalised shame or guilt related to health and ability
🌿 Reclaim a sense of identity and control beyond illness or limitation
Accessibility & Inclusion
We are committed to making our services accessible to everyone.
Our support is available through:
🌿 In-person, online, and hybrid sessions
🌿 Accessible venues with step-free entry where possible
🌿 Flexible scheduling for fluctuating health conditions
🌿 Communication adjustments for neurodiverse and sensory needs
We also work alongside other professionals to ensure holistic care and appropriate accommodations.
If you have specific needs or access requirements, please contact us — we will always do our best to adapt our services.
