Safe, Compassionate, and Trauma-Informed Support

At Soteria Trauma & Recovery CIC, our services are designed to create safety, connection, and healing.

We understand that trauma recovery looks different for everyone — and that every journey begins with being heard, not hurried.

Our team of trauma-informed practitioners provide a calm, professional environment where you can begin to rebuild trust, explore your experiences, and move toward resilience at your own pace.

COUNSELLING

Our one-to-one counselling offers a safe and confidential space to talk, reflect, and begin healing. Sessions are available in person or online, giving you flexibility, choice, and comfort.

We specialise in trauma-informed approaches that focus on rebuilding safety, understanding, and self-compassion — always at your own pace and guided by respect, empathy, and professionalism.

Cost
Our standard fee for one-to-one counselling is £60 per session.

A concessionary rate of £45 is available for individuals on low incomes or experiencing financial difficulty. As a Community Interest Company, all income is reinvested directly into making our services more accessible for those affected by domestic abuse.

Therapeutic Groups

&

Pattern-Changing Courses

Our group spaces offer peer support, empowerment, and understanding among others who share similar experiences. Each group is facilitated by trauma-informed practitioners and designed to help you reconnect with confidence and community.

We run structured group programmes, including:

  • Therapeutic Group (6 Weeks):

Our Therapeutic Groups offer a gentle introduction to recovery within a supportive, trauma-informed space. We run separate groups for men and for women, ensuring that everyone has access to a safe environment that feels comfortable and appropriate for their needs.

Across six weeks, each group explores key themes such as emotional safety, understanding trauma responses, reconnecting with identity, and building small but sustainable steps toward healing.

Alongside guided therapeutic content, participants have the opportunity to receive peer support and connect with others who may share similar experiences. Many people find that being with others who “get it” helps reduce isolation and brings a sense of understanding, validation, and community.

These groups are designed to help you regain steadiness, feel less alone, and develop practical tools to support your wellbeing. You will be held with compassion, choice, and respect throughout.

    Rewriting the Pattern (12 Weeks):

Rewriting the Pattern is a deeper, more structured programme for those who want to understand the impact of trauma — particularly domestic abuse — on their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and sense of self.

Across twelve weeks, we explore:

  • How trauma shapes patterns and coping behaviours

  • the dynamics and tactics of abuse

  • the process of rebuilding safety and boundaries

  • developing a stronger, more empowered sense of identity

  • breaking cycles and creating new, healthier patterns

This programme supports you to reclaim your voice, rebuild confidence, and move forward with clarity, strength, and self-compassion.

  • Understanding the Child’s Story (10 Weeks):

Understanding the Child’s Story focuses on the effects of domestic abuse from a child’s perspective. Over ten weeks, we explore how children experience trauma, what safety looks like through their eyes, and how parents and caregivers can support emotional recovery.

    Themes include:

  • recognising trauma responses in children

  • Understanding the impact on attachment and behaviour

  • supporting emotional expression and resilience

  • strengthening the parent–child connection

  • building a safe, secure, nurturing environment

This programme empowers parents and caregivers with insight, tools, and confidence so they can support children in healing from the effects of abuse.

    Cost:

Therapeutic Group
£20 per session for 6 weeks (total £120)

Rewriting the Pattern
£30 per session for 12 weeks (total £360)

Understanding the Child’s Story
£30 per session for 10 weeks (total £300)

All group fees help us provide subsidised and accessible support for individuals who may not otherwise be able to access therapeutic recovery.

Training & Professional Development

We offer specialised training packages for professionals.

This training equips you to recognise what trauma is, how it can present in behaviours and symptoms, and how it contributes to long-term chronic health conditions and disability, enabling you to integrate this into your area of work and support survivors in a trauma-informed way.

Community & Partnerships

We believe recovery is strengthened by connection. Soteria works alongside local partners and community organisations to ensure survivors have access to holistic, joined-up support.

We also advocate for trauma-informed systems — promoting compassion, dignity, and understanding at every level.
